What do you do when there is no recess or resource...for days???? You do math ALL day...and then your students ask you "when are we doing math today"?....you giggle and say "You've been doing math for about 3 hours now..." WHAT!?!?! It's true! We have been studying 2d shapes and their defining and undefining attributes for about a week in math...using manipulatives to observe and test our hypotheses! They got to know the shape names and attributes quite well before we moved on to 3 dimensional shApes. Then they got the toothpick challenge! They had one goal...create something with these materials: toothpicks, modeling clay.
Prepare to be amazed...
I love walking around the room and listening to their conversations about how they plan to create a trapezoid and then a hexagon and maybe even try out a cube...seriously this cuteness is too much!
