FundRun 2014

This year our PTO decided to create their own version of FUNDRUN to raise money for a very large project at our school! The week of the Fundrun families focus on being healthy and excercising together! Our PTO volunteers worked so hard on organizing recess activities for all the grade levels, giving out pledge prizes and recognizing pledges throughout the hallways! We reached our school goal of $38,000.00 to re-build one of our computer labs!

Here we are on race day...OFCOURSE our team name was the ROCKSTARS!

I love all of these sweet smiling faces! The kids had a blast and of course were ROCKSTARS!

Vocabulary Parade

Our school has taken on a vocabulary theme this year! We have a Book of the Month each month that has been chosen because of the rich vocabulary it provides our students! In November we participated in a school wide vocabulary parade! Instead of dressing up like characters this year we dressed up as a "fancy" word! Each class was able to decide their own direction...I love this freedom! I gave the kids their freedom to choose ANY word they have learned or heard from a book, or anywhere...I'm not quite sure if that made it harder on you parents or not...but I LOVED what everyone came up with...

We had TWO "glamorous" girls! Photo please!

The First Grade Teachers Participated! I glistened way more in the sunlight!
My crazy class...that I just ADORE!

Ferris Wheel Phonics

In our classroom we use the "ferris wheel" to help us develop our  decoding skills and our fluency while reading. It is important for students to be able to blend the beginning sounds together and learn to try both the short and long vowel sounds when sounding out a tricky word! They are still getting the hang of it but totally rockin' as usual!
