Ice science

Wow! It has been a while since we have done any science experiments! This science experiment was all about ICE! We were testing out 3 substances (water, salt, and sugar). Our goal was to predict which substance would melt the ice the fastest! We had 3 cups with equal amounts of ice and we put equal amounts of each substance in the cups!

Observing the cups with the ice and each substance...WHICH ONE WILL WIN???

Students recorded their observations in their science journals...
Then we took a poll on Edmodo!

At first it looked like water was going to win! The liquid in the cup was deceiving! In the end salt came out the ultimate winner! It melted ALL of the ice! The other substances left a few ice cubes! Now we know why people salt their driveways up north! Good thing they don't use sugar:)
